File Management for ITS
Designing a platform where people can vote on how files are dealt with.
Over the past two terms, I’ve been deeply involved in a project utilizing React to create a website tailored for Carleton College’s file management system. The objective is to allow users to download and vote to delete files that they can access and that were previously owned by a deleted Carleton account . It’s an important task because once a Google account is deactivated, all of its files in Google Drive are also erased. To prevent some important files getting deleted, all of them have been transferred to another account called ‘carlfilekeeper’, However, the account has now become the leading space consumer within the Carleton domain. Therefore, there is an urgent need to assist Information Technology Services (ITS) in devising a secure method to remove most of these files. To address this issue, the website serves as a platform for users to vote on deleting these files. In this project, I have actively contributed to the design of the current database and am currently engaged in developing the front-end interface.
