An introduction to RStudio Server for students
A guide to using RStudio in a web browser from any campus computer, for statistics and computer science courses.
RStudio Server lets people use the RStudio environment from a web browser instead of installing it. Yihuang Wu wrote the student-facing introduction for Carleton: students enrolled in statistics or computer science courses sign in with their Carleton account, and anyone else asks for an account. It works from any computer on the campus network, and from off campus through the VPN.
The guide covers the benefits over a local installation, such as access from any campus computer and no setup, and where to get help.
